Birthday cheer for Jackie Chan’s dad

SEPANG: Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan may be the busiest kung fu hero on the silver screen but he still finds the time to celebrate his father's 90th birthday in style.

He chartered a plane to fly his friends and those of his father Chan Zhi Peng to Malaysia for a closed-door party at the Palace Of The Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur last night.

“All these years I have focused my time and attention on other people or charities and I question myself about what I have done for my own father,” Jackie said after arriving at the KL International Airport.

Jackie, 50, said he had been planning the surprise party for the past three months and was glad that his efforts paid off.

“It doesn’t matter how much I spent for this birthday bash because seeing my father so happy is all that matters to me,” said Jackie.

He added that he chose Malaysia for the celebration because he wanted to get away from the Hong Kong paparazzi.
